Frederick John Shrubsole was born 1896 in Trottiscliffe, Kent & baptised there in Trottiscliffe Church on 7 Mar 1897. He died on the Somme 7 Oct 1916.
He is commemorated at Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France & is also remembered in Trottiscliffe church on the north wall of the nave.
He was a private in the London Regiment. Service no 7717. The London Regiment was an infantry regiment in the British Army, part of the Territorial Force. The regiment expanded to 88 battalions in WWI & saw distinguished service in the trenches on the Western Front in France or Flanders, in the Gallipoli Campaign, at Salonika, Palestine, Waziristan & Afghanistan.
